Moore or Less Folk Club

OastCommunity Centre, Granary Close,

Rainham, Kent, ME8 7SG

(Next to Rainham railway station)

The Moore Or Less Folk Club was started in March, 1979. March, 2016 is our 37th birthday.

The club started life at the "White Horse" public house in High Street, Rainham and then moved a little down the road to the "Green Lion". We spent some time at the "Three Mariners and then at the "Three Sisters" , before arriving at the Oast Community Centre. Most people agree that this is one of the best venues as it is easy to get to by road and rail and only a short didtance from Rainham town centre.

The club was started by Derek Moore, who has been much amired for many years as a singer, song writer and, in the past, a guitar teacher. Many of the current club performers credit Derek for having developed their interest in guitar playing and singing.

For many years Derek was ably assisted by Brian Diwell and Bill Van Dome. In March, 2011 Derek and Brian "retired" as club organisers and the helm was handed over to Chris Wilkin and Bill continues to be of valuable assistance.

Chris is entering into his 6th year as organiser and the club continues to operate much as it always has. It is primarily a singers club. Most of our monthly club nights are singers nights. Here we encourage all levels of performers from beginers to those who have been playing and singing for many years.

Generally we have invited guests in March (our birthday month) and in December. Full details of the guests appearing can be found on the "events" page.
