The Moore or Less Folk Club started nearly 33 years ago, March 2012 will be our 33rd birthday.  We started life at the White Horse and then moved to the Green Lion, from there we went down to the Three Mariners and then to the Three Sisters and finally in April 2008 we arrived at the Rainham Oast Community Centre, I think everyone here agrees that this is one of the best venues we have ever had.  We are easy to get to by rail or road and only a short walk from Rainham town centre.  Click here for  Map

The club was started by Derek Moore and over the years he has been ably assisted by Brian Diwell and Bill Van Dome. In March, 2011 Derek and Brian both retired from club organisation. A new driver, Chris Wilkin, was installed and Bill continues to be of valuable assistance.

 PAST GUESTS

We have had some wonderful guests in the past, to name but just a few there was Vin Garbutt, Allan Taylor, Mike Silver, Artisan, The Arizona Smoke Review, Show of Hands, Les Barker, Sadie Green Sales, Hughie Jones, Jeremy Taylor, Hugh & Tony Williams, Isla StClaire, Lyra Celtica, Anthony John Clarke, Landermason, Singing Loins, Kriss Dollimore, Phoenix, Colin Reece and many of Kents local folk talents  such as Pigs Ear, No Worries, John Barden, Doug Hudson, Brian Diwell and co., Hartley Morris, Junk and Disorderly, Fiddle Fit etc. etc. etc.

Our guest on 10th October '08 was Anthony John Clarke.

He gave us such a wonderful night with such great songs as The Only Life Gloria Knows, Tuesday Night Is Always Karaoke, An Acquaintance Of Mine and the lovely Between Midnight And Blue.

He was so good that that the Sheppey Folk and Blues Club have put him on their list for 2009, so keep a look out for him there.

Many thanks AJC we'll keep you in mind for a future booking.

During 2010 we have had some wonderful guest evenings with John Barden and the Bardettes (aka No Worries) starting off the guest year in March.

Loose Change and Boarder Crossing followed in May and July and after the summer Rag Mamma Rag gave us a superb evening in October.

Our Birthday guest in 2011 was Kris Dollimore and as this was the last night that Derek Moore and Brian Diwell were organisers the club was full to the rafters and was, without doubt, one of the best folk evenings that anyone can remember. Kris was a fitting send off for Derek and Brian.

Although primarily a singers club the policy of hiring guests will contine. Now that the new organiser has had a chance to get his feet under the table the plan is to have 3 or 4 guests each year. The first of these is "No Worries" who are booked for the birthday bash in March, 2012. Continue to watch the web site for news of future guests.
