THE FIRST EVER "ROCHESTER ACOUSTIC MUSIC DAY" (RAMD)

10th JULY 2010 at The Good Intent, Rochester, Kent:

What a wonderful day we all had, the weather outside was hot (30 deg.) and the music inside was just as hot and continuous from beginning to end. I would like to thank, with all my heart, all those who performed and those who came along just to enjoy the music and the atmosphere, no one was disappointed. This was proven by a packed pub from 3:00pm to 11:00pm. and boy did we make some noise in the jam session. You lot were brilliant, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, BUT without the kindness, hard work and hospitality of our hosts Karen & Dal, I would not have been able to make the day happen, so an extra big THANK YOU to both of them.

Here are some of the emails I have received regarding the "RAMD"

From Philip Wastell:

Hi Derek.  Thanks a lot for all your efforts.  It was a great day.

From Les Elvin:

Hi, Derek.  Thanks to YOU for the effort & arranging. Everyone enjoyed it, as they've already said, and we're all looking forward to 2011 already. Speaking for myself, I enjoyed playing and listening to all the great acts, and the generally friendly vibe of the whole day. Can't wait for next time - after we've got the Summer, Autumn, Winter, Christmas....etc out of the way first!

From Paul Steele:

Congratulations Derek

From Ray Fielder (Loose Change):

Derek, It was great, well done. There is so much talent around. It's such a good venue.

From Norman Brooks (Aint Misbehavin'):

All thanks to you Derek, Well done .... I had a great day
From Susan Tuckey (Tone Deaf Leopard):
Thanks Derek, Brilliant! Here' to the next time.
From Andy Smythe (Andy Smythe Trio):
Hi Derek, A big thank you again to hosting us all at the Good Intent on saturday. You did a wonderful job as compere - fantastic organisation and hospitality! Great to play for so many friendly faces - we really enjoyed ourselves! Also really enjoyed the acts we saw.....Fully agree a lovely day and a fantastic webpage you've set up there in celebration. A nice picture of the trio - thank you! The trio are all unanimous in saying that they'd love to come and play at the Moore or Less folk club if you can fit us in in 2011! Well done again!
From Brian Rodgers (No Worries) :
Derek, Yesterday's do was amazing. We couldn't be there during the day, but for things to still be going like that all evening was a major achievement. Be proud. So many people there playing (us included) as a direct result of your unerring encouragement. What a great crowd. Didn't Dal and Karen do a great job?
Please say you'll do it again.
From Frank Bigham:
Derek, just a big thank you for being the driving force behind the excellent day, you kept it on scedule, you did well to cope in the sticky heat of the pub. Jenny really enjoyed it as she is relatively new to all this, we met her at orpington folk and took her under our wing so she has a go whenever she can now.
From Greg Harper:
Dear Derek, Just a quick line to say how much I enjoyed performing at RAMD last weekend. You organized a really nice event. It was great to listen to such good and varied local talent, as well as meeting up with some old friends of mine. Thanks for including me in the day and giving me the chance to share with you all, some of my songs. I would love to come and play for you at Mooore or Less Folk Club if you are able to accommodate me and again if you are interested too ...next year at RAMD. Many thanks to you for organizing such a good event that so many people enjoyed. THANKYOU. Greg
From Sally Ironmonger (Sally Iron Monger Trio):  Hi Derek - the pics look great!

On the left are the couple we all owe so much to - Karen and Dal - 'The Good Intent' is home to all kinds of music events, there are singarounds, open mic nights, concert nights, jazz nights and other music days, the Rochester Sweeps Festival also holds one of their singarounds there, they have their own beer festival with many cask ales available. This pub is turning out to be the best all round music venue in Rochester. You must pay them a visit sometime. Thank you both for such a perfect day.
