John Barden and the Bardettes
Our 31st birthday guests on 12th March 2010. What a great evening they gave us, we more than covered their fee on the door so we gave them more. My only apology is that I forgot to take my camera on the night so I am using a snap I took at last years Rainham folk day, but they look just the same, nothing has changed in face of figure.
John has a lovely voice which is complimented by his guitar playing and by the voices and instruments played by the Bardettes (Brian & Marion Rodgers aka 'No Worries'). Their sets comprised of both traditional and contemporary songs, some of which are his own with one written by Maz Hobday of the Rainham Folk Club. Well worth a booking.
We also had a few new faces turn up at the club just to see them, so if there are any clubs out there that are looking to fill up an empty space on their calendar, give them a try.
Thanks Guys.

Loose Change
Were our guests on 14th May 2010 and again my apologies to them for not taking my camera on the night so I have had to use a photo taken at last years folk day, none the less they gave us an excellent evening which was well attended. Jo Eden (left) has such a wonderful voice which is so very well complemented by the singing and playing of both Ray (centre) and Bob (right) that a number of people commented to me and to them about how much they enjoyed their performance, the quality of the material and the songs they chose, some of which written by Ray with, I think, some collaboration from the other two, but I may be wrong so I apologise now. I would certainly recommend any club finding a date in their calender and booking them asap. Get them now while they are still affordable.
My sincere thanks to Ray Fielder, Jo Eden & Bob Johnston (aka. LOOSE CHANGE)

"Border Crossing" at the Moore or Less Folk Club: 9th July 2010
What a talented pair they are. For many years John Matthews has amazed us all with his unaccompanied singing but since joining forces with Dean Tainio, who adds so much with his excellent guitar playing, both finger picking and hard strumming, and a very harmonious voice, the pair of them are bound for greater things and more bookings. They have a very wide variety of material ranging from the traditional to the contemporary, from Robert/Rabbie Burns to the Saw Doctors. They gave of their best and we enjoyed every minute. Thanks guys, hope to see you at other clubs and bars.
